The Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) was compiled by British psychology professor Eysenck and his wife, and was developed on the basis of the “Eysenck Personality Questionnaire” (EH). It was formulated in the late 1940s, first published in 1952, and officially named in 1975. There are two formats: adult questionnaire and children’s questionnaire. The EPQ consists of four scales: P, E, N, and L. It mainly investigates the three dimensions of extroversion (E), neuroticism (N), and psychoticism (P). Eysenck believes that personality can be analyzed into three dimensions, among which the E-dimensional factor is closely related to the intensity of excitation and inhibition of the central nervous system, and the N-dimensional factor is closely related to the instability of the autonomic nerves. The EPQ questionnaire includes four subscales: internal and external tendencies scale (E), emotionality scale (N), psychopathy scale (P, also known as psychoticism) and validity scale (L). There are male and female norms. P, E, and N scale scores decreased with age, while L increased. The P and N scores of mental patients are both high, and the L score is extremely high, showing good reliability and validity. China’s revised version is still divided into two versions for children and adults, but the number of items has changed from 97 and 107 in the original version to 88 and 88 respectively. Compared with other personality questionnaires compiled using factor analysis methods, it involves fewer concepts, is easier to administer, and has better reliability and validity. It is one of the most influential psychological scales in the world. Hans J.Eysenck: Eysenck (1916-1997), a British psychologist, mainly engaged in research on personality, intelligence, behavioral genetics and behavioral theory. He advocated looking at psychology from the perspective of natural science and treating people as a biological and social organism. In the study of personality issues, Eysenck used factor analysis to propose a theory of the three-dimensional characteristics of neuroticism, introversion-extroversion and psychoticism. Eysenck believed that genetic factors contribute to tendencies in all three dimensions. Normal people also have neuroticism and psychoticism, which can be collectively referred to as emotional stability and stubbornness, rather than implying neurosis and mental illness. However, the activity of high-level nerves may also develop pathologically under the influence of adverse factors. The L scale tests the subject’s tendency to “cover up” and also measures the subject’s social naivety level. This test is the adult version of EPQ and is suitable for adults over 16 years old. To sum up, this test evaluates people’s personality tendencies from three dimensions: introversion/extroversion, emotionality, and psychoticism, thereby evaluating a person’s introversion/extroversion, degree of self-control, environmental adaptability and other personality factors. . Eysenck’s three personality dimensions have not only been analyzed through many mathematical statistics and behavioral observations, but have also been examined and confirmed by various psychological experiments in the laboratory. They are widely used in medicine, justice, education and other fields, and are suitable for Testing for junior high school and above age groups. There are 88 questions on this questionnaire.
