In the field of psychometrics, a person’s moral standards are also an important dimension of psychological tests. The American psychologist Kolberger (J. Piaget) is the one who has made outstanding contributions to this area. This person uses a dilemma to test the moral psychology test and divides the results into three stages, representing a person’s moral level. Morality is also known as moral level. It refers to a person’s character and character, and the degree of constraints on personal words and deeds by social morality. A person’s moral level is the degree to which a person’s words and deeds are subject to social morality. Morality is a social consciousness, the code of conduct and norms that people follow in their lives together. It is a standard principle or code of conduct followed by moral principles. The code of conforming to moral principles is good, and the code of violation of moral principles is evil. Moral itself has no contradiction, and the executor will have conflicts when implementing the code according to moral principles. British educator Kohlberg puts the moral level into three levels and six stages: 1. Pre-custom level: (1) Punishment and obedience moral orientation stage: Obeying authority or rules is just to avoid punishment. This orientation is to obey authority or rightful persons to escape punishment, usually parents, and whether an action is moral is determined based on its consequences for the body. (2) Relative utilitarian moral orientation stage: whether it is in line with one’s own interests. At this stage, children obey rewards. Although there is some sharing of reward, there is also a plan and service to oneself, rather than a true sense of justice, generosity, sympathy or mercy. 2. Custom level: (1) The targeted stage for seeking recognition, also known as the ‘good child’ targeted stage: In line with everyone’s opinions, seek everyone’s appreciation and recognition. At this stage, it is good to be praised and maintain a good relationship with others. Although children still judge right and wrong based on the reactions of others, they are now more concerned about the praise and criticism of others than the physical strength of others. (2) The moral orientation stage of maintaining authority or order: respect the authority of the law, and act in accordance with authority and relevant norms. This stage blindly accepts social customs and rules and believes that as long as they accept these social rules, they can be exempted from blame. They no longer only abide by the standards of other individuals but follow social order. 3. Post-custom level: (1) Social contract orientation stage: The contract and legal provisions are not absolute and can be changed according to the requirements of most people. The basis of morality is to maintain social order. Because it is a social contract, it can also be corrected when people in society find alternatives that are in line with the interests of more members in the group through rational discussion. (2) The moral orientation stage of universal principles, also known as the principle or conscience orientation stage: as long as the motivation is good, the behavior is correct, and the universal morality of human beings is above everything else. In this stage, in order to avoid self-blame rather than criticism from others, individuals comply with both social standards and internalized ideals. Those who reach this level will have a highly individualized moral belief that sometimes conflicts with the social order accepted by most people. Kohlberg believes that children aged 0 to 9 are generally at the first level, children aged 9 to 15 are at the second level, and develop to the third level after the age of 16. In this way, there is a measure of morality. In Kohlberg’s system, children at the second level tend to be more moral norms and customary morality, and customary morality has limitations, especially in some moral dilemmas. Adults often choose the moral bottom line or principle they choose, while minors aged 9 to 15 prefer standard secular templates. In this way, we can say in a sense that people at the custom level have a more moral sense than those at the post-custom level, but this concept is not comprehensive, or even biased. Because moral sense is not the literal meaning of universal cognition. So, what stage is your moral level? Let’s test it.
